This text summarizes the Priestly Work of Christ.
His work on the Cross, the finished work of Christ.
In chap. 1 Jesus is greater than the Angels.
—In Chapt.1—Jesus is Better than the Prophets.
—In Chapt.2—Jesus is Better than the Angels.
—In Chapt.3—Jesus is greater than Moses.
—In Chapt.4—Jesus is greater than Aaron & Melchizedek.
—In Chapt.8–Jesus is gives us a greater covenant.
Nothing is in comparison to Jesus
1. The Picture Of The Sacrifices.. (v.1)
What the Law couldn’t do & what the Lord did do.
2. The Prophecy Of The Savior. (v.5)
—a. This speaks of the incarnation.
— Hebrews 9:24,25,26,28, Hebrews 10:5, in (v.5-7) he quotes Psalms 40:6-8
This is not talking about David but talking about Jesus.
He saith…
his is a trinitarian conversation of the Son with the Father—
b. The inspiration. v.7)
The Bible is about Jesus. In Luke 24 p (v.27)
He came in a body & is revealed in a Book.
All Jesus wanted to do was the will of God.
John 4:34; John 5:30; John 6:38
Our inspiration is to do the will of God.
3. The Perfection Of The Saint.
What did Jesus do for us?
a. Sanctification is a fact. (v.10)
Positionally we are sanctified…
The goal of GOD is that we be practically who we are positionally.
Notice the phrase once for all.
Hebrews 7:27; Hebrews 9:12; Hebrews 9:26; Hebrews 10:2; Hebrews 10:10
(v.11) This is a comparison of the Priest to Jesus.
They were standing but Jesus is sitting. Romans 8:34 “
b. Success Over The Foe. v.13)
c. Salvation By Faith.(v.14)
d. Sin’s Forgiven. (v.17)
